Checkout Redesign

This project is a redesign of the checkout process on Rapala’s e-commerence website. Rapala.com sells lures, knives, hooks, fishing tools and fishing accessories.

Project Summary

In this project I acted as Jr. Interactive Designer of the E-commerce team at Rapala. The original checkout process included 6 separate steps. My goal was to consolidate checkout down to a 2-step process. There are a total of 19 wireframes with annotations that finalized the project. Photoshop was the main software that was used to design these wireframes. Within each wireframe there are annotation numbers which aligned with a word document that have detailed functionality and design information. Starting with the shopping cart page going into Step 1 Shipping , Step 2 Billing & Submit, Confirmation Page and ending with the Confirmation Email. Between each step there were additional wireframes that were needed: Checking out as guest or logging in as a registered user, shipping address validation, error & confirmation states for each data input option and payment validation.

Once the design process was finalized the wireframes were then handed over to a 3rd party development team in India. During the development process there were weekly status calls with the development team to keep things moving. Closer to the end of the project we did daily calls with screen sharing for testing and confirmation of specific elements of the project that required high level detail.
